Program Details

Massage Therapy offers you the opportunity to work with individuals in a variety of professional settings to maximize their quality of life. We offer two paths of study based on your career goals: The Two-Year Degree Program is designed for those who wish to practice massage therapy in the medical field including chiropractor’s office, pain clinics and hospitals. The 12 month Certificate Program is designed for those who wish to practice in a wellness- or spa setting. Our programs consist of clinical and non-clinical courses.

A very exciting opportunity, as part of our degree option, is a clinical internship rotation at our local hospital.  After graduating from either of our programs you will be prepared to sit for The Massage and Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx).

Program Goals & Learning Outcomes
Program Goals
  • Graduates will pass the Massage and Bodywork Licensing Examination, and become employed as a licensed/certified massage therapist.
  • Graduates will maintain professionalism including demonstrating the ability to effectively comply with state regulations that govern the scope of the practice of massage therapy.
  • Graduates will demonstrate a fundamental knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and pathology and apply it effectively to assess clients and construct a client-centered session plan.
Learning Outcomes
  • Show proficiency in anatomy and physiology, massage theory and technique to be eligible to sit for the MBLEx examination required for licensure as a Massage Therapist in Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the theories, principles, techniques and pathology and apply it effectively to assess clients and construct a client-centered session plan. massage and associated treatment modalities.
  • Integrate knowledge of health and hygiene into the practice of self -care for the massage therapist and the creation and maintenance of a safe and effective work environment.
  • Provide care for diverse populations of clientele and demonstrate a personal commitment to service and the profession of massage therapy
  • Demonstrate ethical/legal behaviors and boundaries in the massage profession.
