What is articulation?

Allegany College of Maryland is proud of its collaboration with the colleges, universities, and high schools which result in articulation agreements and partnerships that create additional opportunities for students.  The use of the word "articulation" represents that the College has formalized an agreement with another college, university, or high school supporting the transfer of credit between institutions.

Purpose of Articulation Agreements

Articulation agreements are designed to build strong partnerships between schools in order to provide a seamless transition for students.  This formal agreement between institutions documents the transfer policies for specific programs or courses.  Articulation provides an opportunity for high school and community college courses to blend - granting equivalent college credit to students for achieving specific outcomes in identified courses within their school district.

Students who successfully complete "articulated" career and technical education programs in secondary schools that have a signed articulation agreement with Allegany College of Maryalnd are granted college credit for specific courses, should they decide to continue their education at Allegany College of Maryland.  The amount of credit awarded will depend on the particular program.
