Non-Traditional Students

Student Mom with books

If you've been out of high school more than five years, you're known as a non-traditional student. You're generally 24 years of age or older, married or divorced, a member or veteran of the armed forces, a mom or dad/caretaker, or employed to support yourself or your family. In essence, you're entering or returning to college after a delay. As we see it, you're bringing life experience and a different perspective to your studies - something we consider to be an asset to both you and your classmates.

To know if you're ready to enter or return to college, check out our prospective student checklist. If you're interested in learning more about ACM, visit one of our campuses or sit in on a college course.  Tours are available at any three of our campuses Non-Traditional Students at tableMonday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  For more information on day tours view the campus tour page . In additional to our day tours, ACM offers in-person tours of our Cumberland Campus for non-traditional students two Mondays a month from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. To schedule an evening visit, please call 301-784-5120. Additionally, we offer open house events at our all three campus locations -- Cumberland, Maryland, Everett, Pennsylvania and Somerset, Pennsylvania -- throughout the year .

And because we know that our non-traditional students need personalized services and support, we offer a specialized center just for you!  The Turning Point program  is a place where you can learn more about furthering your education or simply relax with other non-traditional students.
