Survey shows strong need for business people in the Cumberland and Bedford areas


The Greater Cumberland Committee, an organization consisting of business owners and executives in a six-county area (including Allegany and Bedford), conducted a survey of businesses to obtain information about the business climate in its area. The survey had 172 respondents.

One of the questions was: Q13 Please indicate which skill-sets are needed by your workforce or which skills you have identified as being in short supply.

As you can see from the list below, three of the top four skills areas needed or in short supply are in business. 40% of the respondents stated that Management/Leadership skills were needed in the local workforce or are in short supply; 37% said Sales/Customer Service; 33% said Business/Accounting.
