Welcome to Instructional and Student Affairs where we strive to be a learning-centered
college with learning at the center of all we do.
The MISSION of Instructional and Student Affairs
Instructional and Student Affairs provides responsive educational and administrative
support, guidance, and leadership to promote innovative and enriching learning.
We are committed to providing an education with small classes, hands-on experience, and more instructor attention using state-of-the-art equipment and real-world settings.
We are proud of our highly qualified faculty who are dynamic instructors in the classroom, the laboratory, the studio, and in the community.
These faculty members provide innovative and challenging instruction to our students
in classroom, hybrid, or online instructional formats preparing students for productive,
meaningful, and fulfilling lives. Faculty and staff advise students throughout every
step of their educational journey to achieve their lifelong goals.
The Senior Vice President, Deans, and Associate Dean in Instructional and Student
Affairs oversee all academic programs and learning resources and are responsible for
the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of credit and non-credit
instructional programs. Instructional and Student Affairs includes numerous areas

Message from the Senior Vice President of Instructional and Student Affairs
Allegany College of Maryland is a learning-centered college committed to making learning
the center of all that we do! We encourage students to holistically bring themselves
to all their educational experiences. We empower students to be participative, self-directed,
and responsible for their learning. We offer numerous support services to assist the
individualized educational attainment of each student. We believe that learning can
occur within any interaction, and that sometimes the student can be the teacher. We
have witnessed that education has the power to transform lives and change communities.
This is what we do.
ACM's faculty and staff are dedicated to providing enriching educational experiences inside and outside the classroom, and preparing our students for productive, successful, meaningful, and fulfilling lives. ACM is proud of its leadership position in the delivery of quality educational programs and services to the citizens, businesses, and agencies of our tristate service area. The educational attainment of our students is an institutional priority to create a skilled, globally competitive workforce. We are proud that ACM graduates are in high demand by employers.
Finally, ACM is honored to have been one of the original signatory colleges in The Democracy Commitment, a national consortium of two-year colleges dedicated to preparing students for participation in democracy. To this end, ACM is dedicated to the civic engagement of our students through the College to Community Partnership Center. The College to Community Partnership Center creates learning opportunities for our students to cultivate their humanity and foster their public mindedness; to make their neighborhoods, their communities, and the world a better place. We strive to educate these empowered citizens through both curricular and co-curricular pathways by bridging the classroom with the community, the academic with the civic.
We hope that it is clear that ACM is a pretty special place! Quality programs. Dedicated faculty and staff. Student-focused. Career preparation. Learning-centered. Civic engagement.
So, LAUNCH your educational journey with us TODAY! Your time is now!
Sincerely,
Dr. Kurt Hoffman
