Graduation

Spring Commencement - 2026

Graduation applications must be completed by any student wishing to receive a degree or certificate in May 2026. An application must be completed for each degree/certificate/letter of recognition that the student intends to earn.

Commencement Date: Saturday, May 16, 2026
Application Deadline: March 27, 2026
Late Application Period: March 28 - April 17, 2026 (A $100 late fee will apply during this time.)

No late applications will be accepted after April 17, 2026.


Commencement Ceremonies

  • All graduates are encouraged to attend. Only students eligible for a degree or certificate may participate in the ceremony.
  • Spring Cumberland Ceremony: Saturday, May 16, 2026
  • Eligible students will receive details via their student email closer to the date.
  • No tickets required. No limit on guests. Seating is first-come, first-served. Reception following the ceremony.
  • Mandatory rehearsal: Friday, May 15, 2026 (details regarding times will be sent closer to graduation).
  • Ceremonies will be held at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM in the Gymnasium. Details regarding which ceremony you should attend will be emailed to applicants.

Commencement Ceremony Details

Date: Saturday, May 16, 2026
Location: Bob Kirk Arena (Gymnasium), Allegany College of Maryland

  • 11:00 AM – Career and Transfer Programs Ceremony
    Graduation practice: Friday, May 15 at 11:00 AM in the gymnasium.
    Programs included: Applied Technical Studies, Automotive Technology, Business Management, Computer Technology (Cybersecurity & Technical Support), Criminal Justice, Data Analytics, Engineering, Forest Technology, Legal Studies, Multimedia Technology, Arts & Sciences, Business Administration, Computer Science, Criminal Justice Transfer, General Studies, Teacher Education, and all related certificates.
  • 2:00 PM – Allied Health Ceremony
    Graduation practice: Friday, May 15 at 9:00 AM in the gymnasium.
    Programs included: Dental Hygiene, Human Service Associate, Massage Therapy, Medical Assistant, Medical Administrative Assistant, Medical Laboratory Technology, Respiratory

Bedford Campus ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.  Specific details will be sent to applicants who opt to attend that ceremony. 

Nurse Pinning Information
Nursing Pinning Ceremony information will come directly from the Nursing Department.

 


GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

A student must:

  • complete all academic requirements as stated in year of entry catalog or current year catalog
  • complete a minimum 60 credits for an associate degree
  • complete a minimum 25% of required credits at ACM
  • attain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher

No student may graduate with an incomplete grade(s).

 


APPLYING FOR GRADUATION

It is strongly recommended that students utilize Self-Service and run a program evaluation and/or meet with an academic advisor to review program requirements for completion.

All students are expected to complete an application for graduation, regardless of participation in the commencement ceremony. All students are expected to complete a separate application for each degree or certificate.

Students that attended other colleges or universities and wish to transfer credit must have official transcript(s) sent to ACM’s Admissions Office.

  When to apply(no fee)  Late Applications accepted($100 late fee)  No applications accepted after:
Spring 2026 January 19 - March 27 March 28 - April 17 April 17

DISABILITY-RELATED SERVICES

Allegany College of Maryland is committed to providing access to people with disabilities. Please contact Academic Access Disability Resources Office at (301)784-5234 or e-mail adr@allegany.edu to request any special accommodation required for you or your guests to attend the graduation ceremony. Please note that the College does not provide wheelchairs, scooters, or other mobility devices; however, we can reserve special seating areas for guests and visitors with mobility impairments who bring their own mobility devices. Requests for an interpreter for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing need to be received at least two weeks before the graduation ceremony.

 


HONORS

Members of Phi Theta Kappa should contact advisor Melody Gaschler for regalia.

Graduates with cumulative GPAs as follows will be recognized at the commencement ceremony:

  • 3.80 - 4.00 summa cum laude (with highest honors)
  • 3.51 - 3.79 magna cum laude (with high honors)
  • 3.30 - 3.50 cum laude (with honors)

 


Caps & Gowns

Caps and gowns information will be sent to applicants via email.

 


DIPLOMAS AND TRANSCRIPTS

Diplomas are not available prior to the commencement ceremony. Digital diploma's will be emailed to eligible students.  Hard copies of the diploma will be shipped directly to the student via Parchment.

All financial obligations must be met before diplomas are released. Contact the Business Office and Financial Aid Office to ensure all requirements are complete.

Transcripts with graduation credentials (graduation date and honors status) will be posted by end of business on May 22, 2026.

If you need your degree information on your transcript, request that the transcript be held until graduation credentials are posted.
