Head coach aims to create a community of runners at ACM
CUMBERLAND, Md.—July 2, 2024—As head coach, William “Will” Giles is bringing men and women cross-country teams back to Allegany College of Maryland (ACM).
Giles has deep experience coaching college and high school students. He was the Division III head coach of McDaniel College’s tennis program for three years while a graduate student. He is currently the head coach of Bishop Walsh School’s boys tennis team and the boys and girls bowling teams. Giles was a stellar tennis player at McDaniel College and Bishop Walsh where he also competed in soccer, basketball, baseball and bowling. He’s taught tennis to individuals and groups since 2014.
Growing Allegany College of Maryland’s cross-country program takes time. Giles invested
the last academic year to recruiting runners. He’s attended high school cross country
and track meets, met with runners and their families, and become part of the running
community.
Giles continues to recruit individuals for ACM’s teams and introduce them to the college’s athletic program. Interested student-athletes are encouraged to sign up and train alongside Giles. Cross-country and running experience are helpful, but it’s not needed. To join ACM’s cross-country running program, please contact Giles by calling 301-784-5159 or emailing him.
Giles is a human resources benefits associate at ACM. He earned two degrees while
a student at McDaniel College: a bachelor’s in communication and a master’s in human
resources management.
