It is VERY IMPORTANT, as a new student at Allegany College of Maryland, that you attend a New Student Orientation Session! You will learn about the many services that are available to you as a student, how to get involved and succeed academically, safety policies/services, and you'll also have opportunities to engage with College staff, faculty and other students. Please see below for details.
Please check with the Advising Center to see if you need to take a Placement Test prior to registering for classes! They can be reached at 301-784-5199. If you need to schedule a Placement Test, you can contact the Learning Commons at 301-784-5554.
We recommend that you schedule your classes prior to attending Orientation, but it is not a requirement.

Cumberland Campus - We will be offering both in-person Orientation sessions and two evening Zoom Orientation sessions for the Spring 2025 semester. Group sizes may be limited due to room size restraints. You MUST register in advance to attend one of these sessions. Students can click on the green "Submit Registration" button below to reserve their space in one of the available sessions (in-person or Zoom).
If the available sessions below not work for your schedule or you're not comfortable with attending an in-person or Zoom session, our Brightspace New Student Orientation module is perfect for you. This option can be completed online, at your own pace. An email with information on how to access this module will be sent to students who are registered for Spring classes via their ACM student email in January.
If you are attending a Cumberland Campus Orientation session, please DO NOT show up to an Orientation session without a confirmed registration.
Bedford County Campus - Currently only one session will be available for the Spring 2025 semester. Group sizes may be limited. You MUST register in advance to attend this session.
