Q & A
  • Why did you choose your major?
I became interested in the law after taking an American Government class in high school and quickly decided that being a paralegal was for me.
  • What advice would you give students interested in your career path?
A degree in Legal Studies gives students a well-rounded education that provides many options.  There are several paths you can take. After graduation, you can begin your career, transfer to a 4-year institution, and then on to law school.  Any of these options will provide students with a challenging and fascinating career that will provide them with critical thinking skills, the ability to keep an open mind, the ability to analyze case law, and the ability to draft legal documents.
  • What was your overall experience at ACM?
I had a wonderful experience at ACM. I had faculty who molded me, guided me, and gave me great advice on what I should do to have a successful and rewarding legal career. I made lifelong friendships and credit my time at ACM as the catapult to an amazing career.

  • Who was your favorite ACM faculty/staff member and why?
I had two favorite faculty at ACM, Mr. Charles Catherman and Miss Keyoung Ja Gill.  Both of these instructors gave me the skills I needed to begin my legal career. They were supportive, fair, kind, and always available to answer questions. My favorite staff member was Cathy Wallizer. She always had a smile on her face and a helping hand.
  • What is your greatest achievement in your career?
I have two greatest achievements.  The first was being appointed the first Court Administrator for Allegany County Circuit Court. The experience I received in the legal field because of my education at ACM and the University of Maryland gave me the opportunity to obtain my dream job. My second greatest achievement was obtaining a teaching position at ACM.
