Q & A
  • Why did you choose your major?
Coming from a medical background, as a CNA/GNA, I wanted to pursue something that stayed in the medical field.  So, I had two options; being a nurse or a medical assistant. The nursing path didn’t go as planned so I pursued being a medical assistant.
  • What advice would you give students interested in your career path?
The best advice I can give would be to do your research on different career paths.  If I had not done mine, I would have missed out on getting a Medical Coding certificate while finishing my Medical Assistant degree.
  • What was your overall experience at ACM?
My overall experience was humbling and rewarding.

  • Who was your favorite ACM faculty/staff member?  Why?
My favorite ACM staff members are Mrs. Tara DeVore and Mrs. Debby Cunningham Hardinger.  These two women work in the best program on campus; PATHWAYS FOR SUCCESS.  Due to my being two hours away from home, they became my second family and emotional support system when my family couldn’t be.  From the daily hugs to the motivational talks whenever I needed them, I wouldn’t have been able to pursue so much at ACM without their support.  They went above and beyond for me and so many others, and it doesn’t go unnoticed.
  • What is your greatest achievement in your career?
My greatest achievement was working through covid with my amazing team at the University of Maryland FPI.
  • ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
When going to college, I would say make a positive impact on anyone you meet because you never know how you can affect their life in the long run.  Also, be open to trying different things.
