Name: Caitlin Diehl Program: Communication Arts Technology (Multimedia Technology) Class of: 2014
Q & A
Why did you choose this major? I chose my major at the “bottom of the ninth” of my senior year in high school, after
working with Adobe Design software in a Research Methods class. ACM’s Communication
Arts Technology program was the major that was going to let me explore design, photography,
video production – all things “communications” that I was interested in.
What advice would you give to students interested in your career path? It is a competitive field that is ever-changing. Stay on top of your game and research
media trends so you can be an early adopter, not a laggard.
What was your overall experience at ACM? Wonderful! I have nothing but good things to say about my time at ACM.
Who was your favorite ACM faculty/staff member? Why? Faculty: It was a tie between Jim House and John Bone. Jim House was hilarious and I enjoyed
the fun way that he taught his courses. John Bone had more of the dry humor that
was also entertaining. I definitely laughed my way through ACM, but not in a negative
way. I had great friends and teachers that made for a fun educational experience. Staff: David Jones, of course! I am so grateful to have been taken under his wing – he
is one of my greatest mentors.
What is your greatest achievement in your career? I’ve won two awards from the City-County Communications & Marketing Association; a
Silver Circle Award at the 2018 conference for the “Best Use of Facebook – Public
Safety Recruitment Campaign” and again in 2019 for my work on the “Combat the Cat:
Lock it Tight or Risk the Swipe!” public safety campaign.
