Name: Craig Alexander Major: Business Administration - Accounting Class: 1985 Current Position: Judge of Orphans Court; Administrator - Town of Midland
Q & A
Why did you choose your major? I felt the job opportunities with a Business Administration/Accounting degree were
plentiful and would allow me many opportunities to pursue advancement throughout my
career.
What advice would you give to students interested in your career path? Be flexible in exploring job opportunities opened to you by your degree. Always be
looking for your next job until you finally get the one that you can be happy with
for the rest of your career. There is nothing in your past that gets to define your
future, unless you allow it to. Whether you were a poor student or had substance
abuse issues, once you make the determination of what you want to do with your life,
just work every day toward that goal. I was not an outstanding student in high school,
but everything turned out well.
What was your overall experience at ACM? My experience at ACM was great. I was a non-traditional student having taken some
time off after high school. Class sizes were smaller than many colleges, which allowed
closer interaction with faculty and students. The campus is beautiful and compact,
which made getting around a pleasant experience.
Who was your favorite ACM faculty/staff member, and why? I appreciated every teacher I had for caring enough to help me attain the critical
thinking skills and knowledge needed to succeed. I would never name just one.
What is your greatest achievement in your career? I retired as the Chief Operating Officer of the Thomas B. Finan Hospital Center after
a 33-year career with the State of Maryland. Additionally, I was also able to pursue
my interest in serving the community through my service with the Town of Midland and
Midland Fire Company.
Additional comments: ACM is a great college and can be the launching pad for whatever education you hope
to attain.
