Name: Ethan Newton Major: General Studies Class of: 2010
Q & A
Why did you choose your major? As a student-athlete, I wanted to keep as many options open as possible for myself
when transferring to a four-year institution. I eventually received my BA in English.
What advice would you give to students interested in your career path? It’s not a straight line; there are a lot of ups and downs and uncertainties, but
if you love it, stick with it.
What was your overall experience at ACM? I had an unbelievable experience. ACM helped me get acclimated to the college structure
without being overwhelmed. Athletically, I had the opportunity to play college baseball
for Hall of Fame Coach Steve Bazarnic; this experience included a trip to the NJCAA
World Series in 2009, and I eventually received an athletic scholarship to play Division
I baseball after my time at Allegany.
Who was your favorite ACM faculty/staff member? Why? Roger Tuning. I enjoyed his wit and calm demeanor. Professor Tuning provided the resources,
but it was up to you, the student, to complete the work and earn the grade.
What is your greatest achievement in your career? As a player, going to the 2009 NJCAA World Series. As a coach, winning the America
East conference championship at the University of Hartford in 2018.
Additional comments: My experience at ACM and the relationships I formed there are still something I hold
special to this day. Beginning my college career at Allegany was one of the best decisions
I’ve made in my life.
